We provide employment and training for individuals experiencing homelessness to manufacture sleeping bag coats for those in need.
At Empowerment Plan, we work to produce our durable and innovative coat that transforms into a sleeping bag. This employment opportunity ensures that each person we hire is able to earn a stable income, find secure housing, and regain their independence.

City of Detroit, Office of Cannabis Affairs
Thanks to the City of Detroit’s Office of Cannabis Affairs, together with many of Detroit’s dispensaries, nearly $16,000 was raised during the 2024 holiday season, providing 107 coats to the city of Detroit. The OCA distributed many of the coats to the Pope Francis Center, as shown above. Thank you so much for your efforts and generosity!

Ayesha Muhammad
Ayehsa is the hype woman of EP, and we are so grateful to have her on our team. She recently shared her story with us - one of tenacity and heart. After falling into addiction, Ayesha found herself in prison, and eventually in a shelter where she saw a flyer for EP. Now three years sober, she is a force of positivity at EP, reminding her coworkers daily that they are winners and more than their pasts. She finds deep purpose in giving back, sewing EMPWR coats for those facing the struggles she once knew firsthand. One thing is for sure. Ayesha doesn’t dwell on her past - because she is too busy building her future.
